Yohan Hwang
INTRODUCING YOHAN
Yohan Hwang was raised in a sixth-generation believing Christian family. His grandfather and mother were church planters in Korea, and his father is a church planter in Ahousaht. He has five siblings and grew up witnessing intergenerational faithfulness and cross-cultural mission work, beginning at age 9 in the Ahousaht First Nation community.
FAITH AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Yohan was baptized on March 29, 2025, at AYC (Aboriginal Youth Camp). He completed Counsellor-In-Training (CIT) at Qwanoes Camp in the summer of 2024 and LIT — Leader-In-Training in the summer of 2025.
Since November 2025, Yohan has been mentored by Wes Linde at Valley Church in Duncan, receiving theological training in biblical interpretation, experiential transformation, and sharing testimonies in discipleship training. By God’s provision, he was appointed as Youth Pastor at Maaqtusiis Community Church on January 28, 2026, and has since been faithfully serving in ministry among young people in Ahousaht and neighbouring tribes.
He is prayerfully preparing to study through the CBTE (Competency-Based Theology Education) program at Northwest College and Seminary, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Leadership at the church building in the Ahousaht community.
